What to Expect- Retreat Itinerary

Pilates, Anti-Stress, Unwind, Relax.

This Pilates, relaxation, anti stress wellness retreat caters to those who are in need of escape from their busy schedules to a sanctuary where they can recharge and re-balance their mind, body and spirit. We will help you achieve this through a combination of Pilates, yoga stretches and mindfulness mediation. It’s highly recommended for those who feel overworked, fatigued, burnt-out, stressed and looking to renew themselves.

Summary of the Breakdown of the day

10:45am - 11:00am - Welcome to the Pilates, Mindfulness and Wellness Center.

11:00am - 12:30pm Pilates Olive Keyes signature wellness consultation, 90 minute Pilates, stretching and Meditation class.

1:00pm - 2.00pm - Lunch

2:15pm - 3:30pm Guided Nature, Heritage, Walking tour of Mote Conservation Forest Park, stretch the legs, absorb the beautiful surroundings.

4:00pm - 5.30pm - 90 minute Restorative Pilates, Stretching and Meditation class.

ITINERARY- What the Day Consists of

10:45am -11.00am Welcome to The retreat.

On arrival you are invited to the new purpose built Pilates, Mindfulness and Wellness Center.

11:00am -12:30pm 90 minute Pilates, stretching and Meditation.

This Pilates class is ideal for both Pilates beginners or aficionados alike. Guests will experience postural analysis, breathing techniques, pelvic floor and gentle core/abdominal muscle work, along with gentle lengthening and stretching techniques, completing the first Pilates session with light meditation and relaxation. We cater for all levels and you are also welcome to do as much or as little as you like.

1:00pm - 2.00pm lunch

Sourced from local producers, the lunch consists of  nutritious, healthy food, suitable for vegetarians and adjusted for coeliac with gluten free choices.

2.15pm - 3.30pm Guided Nature, Heritage walking tour, stretch the legs.

After lunch we invite you to take a cycle or walk in Mote Forest Conservation Park or St. Johns Wood, the oldest wood in Ireland, where you can stretch your legs, soak up and re-connect with the beautiful natural surroundings.

4:00PM - 5.30PM 90 minutes Pilates Restorative, stretching and Meditation.

We will meet back in the Pilates, Mindfulness and Wellness Center, for a Pilates restorative class.

This class will represent how Pilates can be used to as part self care, with practical every day self care tips on how to mind yourself, through embodying your physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being.

This will enable you to reduce stress and reconnect with your mind, body and spirit. We aim to help you achieve this through a combination of restorative Pilates, Yoga stretches, breathing, relaxation and meditation.

This relaxing class will leave you feeling brand new and rejuvenated.

Meet Your Instructor

Olive Keyes (MSC MHPM BBPC BCHSS NCEF)

Olive Keyes is Founder and CEO of Irelands Heartlands Retreats and brings you the first Pilates, Mindfulness and Wellness Retreat in the Heart of the Midlands. With over 20 years experience in Health and Fitness industry, Olive is An Award Winning Pilates instructor winning the 'Best in Health and Fitness' with the Westmeath Style Business Awards 2017 and finalist with the Athlone Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2018.

She is the only Pilates instructor in the Midlands listed as a 'Wellness Expert' on the panel with Laya Healthcare (Spectrum Health) and enjoys  A five star rating on Google with over 173 Google reviews from current and past clients.

Olive also featured in the media most notably the Sunday Business Post ‘Paving a path for Health and Wellness in the Midlands’, and RTE’s Operation Transformation for the ‘Fit Farmers’.

After her own back injury, Olive spent many years training in the Pilates system which is based on it's founder - the late Josef Pilates. She also trained in Mindfulness Meditation as a tool to support her with chronic pain.

Olive tailored and developed a Mindfulness and Pilates strategy to work on her own rehabilitation program, as her popularity grew and with a expansive following, she started teaching. This has led to her vast experience in issues around chronic pain, fibromyalgia, back pain, sports injuries, and recovery & rehabilitation. She also worked in the disability sector delivering Pilates for rehabilitation and groups, including, the Irish Wheel Chair Association, Chronic Pain and Fibromyalgia. Olive’s teaching style is empowering for males and females of all ages with slow concentrated movements tailored to suit the class needs (Mat, Props, Reformer, etc.). Olive continues to up-skill and engage in ongoing professional Pilates training with the ‘Balanced Body faculty’ and Pilates Performance college, where she’s gained worldwide recognised qualifications.

Since 2020, Olive has re-trained and up-skilled in Mindfulness Meditation for Professionals with the Irish and British Mindfulness Academy, furthermore, She is Qualified (MSC-PHP) in the Health Sciences most notably (MA) Health Promotion from NUIG and Post Grad in Pilates with aspects of Clinical Pilates. Particular areas of research interest comprise of Wellness Programs based on evidence based practice, including the World Health Organisation Psychosocial models (Physical / Mental / Emotional / Social & Spiritual Well Being) such as:

  • Health promotion nutrition programs.

  • Healthy workplace strategies.

  • Corporate packages and ergonomics.

  • Healthy supportive environments.

  • Occupational health.

  • Mental health and well-being.

  • Healthy Cities, Towns and Villages.

In a previous career Olive qualified as a Social worker and worked with those on the margins of society, from older people to the very young. She was a Development Officer with Youth Work Ireland operating in counties Westmeath, Longford and Roscommon. Olive has also worked with Adults and Children with intellectual and physical disabilities and has extensive experience working with people on the Autism spectrum, including providing respite care and independent living. She further worked with people seeking Asylum and refuge in Ireland and Her career further expands to working in peer Counselling in the Rape Crises Center. Olive is a former Solider and Fitness Instructor with the Irish Defence Forces, having served on overseas missions with the United Nations.
